It’s finally summer, which means ice cream and popsicles season, and if you are Italian, a good gelato it’s a big deal. Thus, we could not help to notice that ice creams have not been spared by marble texture mania and that people are going nuts on Instagram for pictures of marble popsicles.
Picture perfect food
Food is one of the new frontiers in photography, and people’s timelines on social media are filled with bright images of aesthetically pleasing food. Nowadays foodies blogs play such an important role in promoting and choosing a restaurant, that some chefs have redesigned their menus to look good on camera. At the same time, there is also a stronger focus on healthy food in our culture, and a strong home-made movement. Put that together and you get extremely photogenic home-made marble food: popsicles for the summer and sugar cookies for the winter!
Edible marble ice cream and popsicles
One of the best marble popsicles recipe we found from wholesome patisserie is quite simple and yet mouthwatering: vegan coconut yogurt and natural black gel food coloring. Check them on instagram at @wholesomepatisserie
The ‘cake-popsicles’ by self-taught Baker Raymond Tan, aka Ray Ray, are more sophisticated: they are adorable tiny edible sculptures on a stick. Designs are inspired by architecture and elements of nature among which marble. Check him on instagram @rymondtn

The aesthetic of marble popsicles
Not all the pictures you will find are real ice creams on a stick though: in facts, the marble popsicles have been recreated by Studio Shylo in concrete, as a piece of home decor.
More than that, the marble popsicle has become a decorative element, used in wall prints, shower curtains, and even mugs. It’s a bit weird to us, what you think about it? Marble + ice cream is twice as cool?
