Faux marble coat hook, a Dutch design by Matthijs Bruinenberg

Faux series coat hooks (2019) by Matthijs Bruinenberg

This faux marble coat hook by Dutch designer Matthijs Bruinenberg has caught our attention: dutch design is flirting with marble mania!

Matthijs Bruinenberg plays with marble identity and the art of faux marbling, using marble texture in a form we would commonly not associate with this material.  Each aluminum hook is carefully painted by a skilled artist, imitating the Grand Antique marble from the French Pyrenees, a deep black stone with graphic white veining that’s utterly unique.

This marble effect coat hanger would look great in a hallway entrance to hold scarfs, or in a kitchen and bathroom to hold towels. It can be mounted to the wall with an integrated system, that is later covered with an included white or black insert. This coat hook immediately makes a plain wall interesting.

Matthijs Bruinenberg designs functional furniture and interior objects. His goal is to discover unexpected applications of materials and techniques and highlighting them in his work, manipulating materials or intervening in the process of making.
