The Marble Car, the story of Beck and her Subaru

Her name is Rebecca Flaherty, known as Beck, she is a student in New Jersey, and she is very passionate about motors, taking very good care of her Subaru WRX STI. In September 2017 she decided to marble her car turning it into something sensational. Since then, Beck and her marble Subaru have been invited to many Car enthusiast meets, and she has become popular on instagram (“just a girl who drives stick”).

Beck’s bold choice witnesses the Carrara marble texture popularity in the States.  She was probably one of the first ones to do it,  followed by others. High quality marble wraps are now available from different brands including 3M or Avery Dennison. The most popular texture is Carrara marble, followed by Calacatta marble  (another Apuan marble).

Here is our interview with Beck:

 

How did you come out with the idea of a marble car ?

“I like cars, I like art, so I incorporated the two. I thought  Carrara marble would be a sick wrap for my car; I did some researches but I did not find anything like I had in mind.”

 

How did you marble your car?

“I started looking for marble wrap calling manufacturers and installers in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, but many refused to do the job or gave me extremely high price quotations. In the end I found First Klass Vinyl, they could wrap my car for a decent price and did an excellent job. I also added some marbled details in the interior such a marble print gear shift cover.”

 

Is your marble car very popular?

“Yes it turns many heads. Like it or hate it, it’s noticed! I go to a lot of car meets and everybody tells me it even looks better in person.”

 

Have you ever been to Carrara, Tuscany?

“I did not know that such a place existed, the first I saw pictures of Carrara town and its mountains on the internet I thought it was really amazing; I really hope I an fly there one day!”
