Marble has been used for lamps shades since the 30’s. Great Italian designers have created stunning examples of marble lighting such as the Biagio lamp (by Tobia Scarpa, 1968) and continue to surprise with innovative uses of Carrara translucent marble in lighting. Real marble table lamps and pendants are beautiful, very precious and expensive.
What’s new is that the white marble look is so trendy that designers around the world have been inspired to create affordable marble-like lamp shades, with marble texture printed on metal or fabric, playing with the contrast of light materials with marble patterns prints. Other ways to add marble accents to your home is by using pillows, curtains and tablecloths.
