BALMAIN summer 2019 is immersed in Carrara marble. SS 2019 Balmain collection reflects its ‘more is more’ philosophy with a visually reach line-up of opulent fabrics, marble prints, figure-flattering cuts.
The marble texture motif runs throughout the whole Balmain’s collection: Carrara white and black marble print knit skirts, jackets, marble asymmetrical dresses, marble boots, and marble print leather clutches and box bags.
The second wave of marble print fashion
2019 sees a second wave of marble print in Haute couture, especially in France and Italy (take a look at “Dawn of Romanity” winter 2019-2020 collection by FENDI), after the first one that hit big Fashion in 2013 (Balenciaga, Kenzo, Jil Sanders, etc). It looks like nobody is getting tired of marble look! Carrara Marble and Black marquina are the most used textures.
Olivier Rousteing revisits the glamour and the excesses of the Eighties fashion. There is no room for modesty and minimalism, the woman is very thin and very rich, sparkling and self-confident. Carrara Marble texture becomes a symbol against austerity.
Balmain is a French haute couture fashion house founded by Pierre Balmain in 1945. It operates 16 mono-brand stores, including locations in New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, and in Milan’s Via Montenapoleone. Balmain creative director is currently Olivier Rousteing.
