Nike-designed Inter 2018-2019 third jersey is marbled, rather unconventional for football. Inter marbled jersey pays a tribute to Milan and its marble Duomo.
Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Design Director explains that this third kit is rich in local heritage and history, inspired to two Milanese icons, the Duomo and the St. George cross.
INTER marbled jersey launch video: Candoglia or Carrara?
Inter introduced the jersey with a video of rock solid defender Milan Skriniar sculpting it from a block of marble. Interesting to notice that the Milan Duomo is made almost entirely of pink mottled Candoglia marble, but the marble texture used for the jersey is grey and the launch video shows a white-grey marble block and background that looks like Carrara marble, probably the most internationally recognized and appealing type of marble. That’s why we think that this jersey design is 50% a tribute to Milan and 50% led by fashion trend.
A new boost for Marble trend?
We can say that marble has made a stunning entrance in the world of football, and we are wondering: will football fashion boost the marble mania in Italy?
